iEX Visual Identity and Creative Product Suite

Client: VHA IE

Developing a visual identity for iEX, a three-day annual event hosted by VHA IE, involved crafting a cohesive and memorable brand presence that reflected the event's innovative nature and mission within the Veterans Health Administration's Innovation Ecosystem (VHA IE). Our team began by analyzing the event’s goals and target audience, which informed the design of a unique visual language that communicated both professionalism and forward-thinking energy. This included a thoughtfully chosen color palette, custom typography for readability and impact, and imagery that conveyed innovation and community. We also created adaptable logo formats and developed a comprehensive suite of design elements for all materials, from stage graphics and signage to digital assets like social media graphics and emails. By ensuring visual consistency across all touchpoints, we created a strong, recognizable brand that reinforced iEX’s mission and values while enhancing the attendee experience and solidifying the event's position in the veteran healthcare space.

VA Immersive Branding & Creative Product Development

Client: VA Immersive

Blackberg's creative team was tasked with developing branding for the VA Immersive program, which is focused on advancing the adoption of immersive technologies like virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) across the VA. Collaborating with VA’s Strategic Initiatives Lab, we developed a logo, color palette, and visual style guide, as well as collateral that captures the program's dynamic, forward-thinking vision. Our creative work with VA Immersive was recognized with a 2024 MarCom Honorable Mention Award for excellence in branding, underscoring our commitment to delivering compelling and high-impact visual experiences.

Mission Daybreak Branding Package

Client: Mission Daybreak

Mission Daybreak focuses on bringing together veterans, researchers, technologists, advocates, and healthcare providers to advance suicide prevention solutions, came to Blackberg Group with an established brand. However, was not fully compliant with the VA's branding standards. Our creative team was tasked with refining the existing brand to bring into compliance with these strict guidelines while maintaining the integrity of the program’s visual identity. We identified non-compliant attributes and established a brand style guide that outlined the necessary visual adjustments, including color palettes, typography, and logo usage. Additionally, we created a suite of marketing materials and digital assets that aligned with the updated visual identity, ensuring consistency across all platforms and fostering a more professional and recognizable presence. Through this process, we helped Mission Daybreak strengthen its visual identity, ensuring it effectively communicated its important message while adhering to VA branding standards.

OHIL Branding & Creative Products

Client: Veterans Health Administration Office of Healthcare Innovation and Learning (OHIL)

Blackberg was tasked with developing a distinct visual style for the Office of Healthcare Innovation and Learning (OHIL) that adhered to VA’s established style guide and standards, and we delivered. Our creative team worked within the framework of VA’s guidelines to create a cohesive design that aligned with the broader visual identity while ensuring OHIL’s unique mission and values were reflected in the branding. Our creative team focused on incorporating key elements from the VA’s style guide, including color palettes, typography, and seal and signature usage, while introducing custom design to enhance OHIL’s identity. This approach ensured a professional and consistent visual language across all OHIL materials, allowing the program to draw on the well-developed visual identity of VA, while also standing on its own.

REdI Branding & Creative Products

Client: Resuscitation Education & Innovation (REdI)

Blackberg played a key role in shaping the visual identity for one of VA SimLEARN’s vital training programs, REdI. Our creative team developed a modern, cohesive branding strategy that reflected the program's themes of collaboration and life-saving care. The design focused on clarity, professionalism, and urgency, creating a memorable and consistent experience across all materials. Additionally, we built a suite of branded products, including signage, presentations, digital assets, and printed materials, to ensure a unified and impactful presence throughout the event.

VA Immersive Summit

Client: VA Immersive

Blackberg’s creative team has developed marketing materials and event graphics for the Immersive Summit, for the last two years. The goal of the event is to provide foundational information about immersive technologies, like virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR), sometimes collective called extended reality (XR) to transform Veteran healthcare. Blackberg created a social media campaign, media kit, event signage, as well as printed flyers. The technology focus of the VA Immersive Summit required Blackberg designers to create an appropriate tone for the event. We achieved this by developing custom motion graphics for the stage. This work earned Blackberg Group a MarComm Award Honorable Mention in 2024.

REdI Resuscitation Symposium

Client: VHA SimLEARN

As the primary creative agency, Blackberg took a comprehensive approach to the event's branding and design, ensuring the symposium's materials were cohesive, impactful, and reflective of its importance. For the event branding, our team developed a modern and engaging visual identity that resonated with the event's themes of innovation, collaboration, and life-saving care. The design emphasized clarity, professionalism, and the urgency of resuscitation, creating a memorable and consistent experience across all materials.

iEX

Client: VHA OHIL

The iEX Event is the premier annual gathering hosted by the Veterans Health Administration's Innovation Ecosystem (VHA IE), bringing together leaders, innovators, and changemakers dedicated to advancing veteran healthcare. In past years, each iteration of the event featured a different visual identity, resulting in a lack of consistency and brand recognition among attendees. Blackberg’s creative team was tasked with developing a unified and enduring branding strategy that would establish a recognizable presence for iEX. Our scope of work encompassed motion graphics, stage graphics, signage, one-pagers, PowerPoint presentations, posters, emails, social media graphics, award certificates, retractable banners, and a dedicated website. To ensure visual cohesion across all materials, our team crafted a comprehensive style guide that defined the event's color palette, typography, imagery, and layout principles. This cohesive approach strengthened the iEX brand, fostering trust, recognition, and a growing number of repeat attendees year after year.

Award Winning Membership Magazine Redesign

Client: The National Association of Benefits and Insurance Professionals (NABIP)

The Blackberg graphic design team was hired by the National Association of Benefits & Insurance Processionals (NABIP) to collaborate with NABIP staff, an editorial team and advertising sales group to improve the overall design and effectiveness of the quarterly member magazine. Aware the magazine looked outdated and was not perceived as a valued member benefit, NABIP sought a more dynamic and engaging design and format. Blackberg designers relied on their 20+ years of design and publication expertise to lead a process of discovery. The result was a fresh, modern, high-impact publication that members are excited to read.  

2024 Diffusion Playbook

Client: VHA Innovation Ecosystem

Blackberg’s creative team was proud to design the Diffusion 2024 Playbook, a comprehensive guide created for Veterans Health Administration Innovation Ecosystem (VHA IE). This playbook serves as a strategic resource, outlining best practices and frameworks for identifying, implementing, and scaling innovations across the VHA network.  Our team developed a visually compelling and highly functional design, along with over 100 custom illustrations and infographics that are consistent with VHA IE’s branding. The Diffusion 2024 Playbook was produced in both print and digital (508-compliant) formats, making it accessible to a wide range of users.

2024 iNET Annual Report

Client: VHA Innovation Ecosystem

For the past three years, Blackberg has been the design partner for the Innovators Network (iNET) Annual Report, a key publication highlighting the program’s growth and achievements within Veterans Health Administration (VHA). The 2024 edition is a 20-page document that showcases annual awards, newly added iNET sites, programming updates, and a recap of Spark-Seed-Spread portfolios. Our team focused on creating a visually engaging and well-structured report that effectively communicates iNET’s impact. By incorporating thoughtful layouts, custom graphics, and strategic use of color and typography, we ensured the content was both compelling and easy to navigate.

Innovation Program Digital Playbook

Client: VHA Innovation Ecosystem

Blackberg worked closely with our VHA IE client to produce a 158-page digital playbook meant to give VHA innovators and collaborators access to VHA IE’s innovation methodologies and resources. Our designers helped shape the content, created custom layouts and illustrations, and provided copy-editing services to help the client reach their goal. The result is a fully functional, 508-compliant digital playbook that continues to reach VHA’s audience, and helps grow their innovator community.

2023 & 2024 VHA State of Innovation Report

Client: VHA OHIL

For the last 2 years, Blackberg has developed and designed the VHA’s State of Innovation Report, which is a comprehensive annual publication highlighting the innovations throughout the year. Our team directs photoshoots, helps develop content, direction, and theme of the publication, and creates custom illustrations to properly convey the life-altering work that happens every year within VHA. The 100+ page publication is distributed in print and accessible digital (508-complaint) formats. In addition, Blackberg creates a campaign of awareness materials to support the readership of the publication, such as flyers, social media, take away cards, and web graphics. For our creative contribution to VHA’s State of Innovation report, Blackberg Group earned a Platinum MarComm Award for publication design.
