Blackberg Group is seeking a Senior Consultant to lead an innovation program within a local Veterans Health Administration (VHA) Medical Center. This individual will help mature and scale emerging healthcare innovations as well as foster a culture of innovation throughout the Medical Center. The successful candidate will have exceptional interpersonal skills, be highly organized, possess an analytical mindset, remain adaptable to a fast-paced environment, and eager to grow in the management consulting.
Core Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and implementation of the innovation program, ensuring alignment with the Medical Center's strategic goals.
- Establish and manage a system for the intake, evaluation, and prioritization of innovation ideas submitted by front-line employees.
- Develop and oversee a structured innovation pipeline, guiding ideas through the stages of concept development, prototype creation, testing, and piloting.
- Develop key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of the innovation program and individual projects.
- Design methods for collecting and analyzing data on KPIs and recommend target goals for expected outcomes.
- Identify and create opportunities to engage front-line employees in the innovation process, promoting a culture of creativity and continuous improvement.
- Prepare comprehensive monthly reports summarizing all activities, participants, and outcomes related to the innovation program.
- Develop and maintain key client relationships—managing meeting invites, tracking meeting actions, facilitating presentations, and delivering client recommendations.
- Develop visually appealing and organized executive summaries, courses of action, and status updates.
- Provide implementation support for VA pilot projects and activities (i.e., schedule kick-off calls, facilitate office hours, take meeting notes, manage communication channels, analyze pilot feedback, etc.).
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Project Management, Healthcare Management, or a related field.
- 5+ years of professional experience in program or project management with a focus on innovation, health care, or organizational development.
- Expertise in project management methodologies, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills—comfortable interacting collaboratively and frequently with a wide range of clients, including senior executive leadership.
- Entrepreneurial Spirit—proactively identifying new opportunities for both the client and the firm.
- Intuitive Problem Solving Skills—able to identify risks, provide suggested solutions, and think outside of the box.
- Strong Written and Verbal communication skills—preparing diverse written communication products, such as one-pagers, summaries, talking points, etc.
